CROZIER, W. Colin - at Hamilton on January 1, 2017, two days shy of his 99th birthday. Cherished husband of Fern (Twamley), his wife of 61 years until her death in 2011. Survived by sons Douglas of Toronto, and Brian (Regina) of Hamilton, grandchildren Taylor (Jesse), Peter, Nathan, Bethany and Robbie, and great-grandchildren Gavin and Tessa. Predeceased by brother Clifford and sisters Frances (Nash) and Lorena. Colin’s career covered 1937 to 1978 as a teacher, principal and administrator, retiring as Supervisor of History with the Hamilton Board of Education. In 1981, he organized and served as first principal of Southern Ontario College, catering to off-shore “visa” students. On leave-of-absence from Wingham Public School in 1942 – 46, Colin served in the RCAF as air-navigator student, commissioned instructor and then overseas in Transport Command with 435 and 437 Squadrons. His valedictory contribution to the service was navigating the North Atlantic. In retirement, he was involved in community organizations Ancaster LACAC, Historical Society, Information Centre, Horticultural Society, Lawn Bowling, Dictionary of Hamilton Biography and Retired Teachers of Ontario. In 1998, he was named Ancaster Citizen of the Year. His backyard garden provided exercise, enjoyment and an abundance of appetizing fruits and vegetables, with Trillium-Award-winning flowers gracing the front yard. Colin’s war-time travels were augmented by family expeditions, tours, conferences, family research and student recruitment. An enthusiastic curler from his initiation in 1962 at London Ivanhoe, he finally retired from Dundas Valley in his 90th year. Throughout their years in Ancaster, Colin and Fern were active members of Marshall Memorial United Church. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Colin, donations can be made to Marshall Memorial United Church or a charity of your choice.
