Stanley Yoshito Shiraishi
September 15, 1940 - June 5, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a beloved husband, father and friend, in his 76th year at St. Joseph’s Hospital on June 5, 2016. Stan will be deeply missed by his wife Davina, stepson Craig Murdoch, and stepdaughter Nikki (Greg) Newton. Beloved son to the late Yoshinori and Kinu Shiraishi. Stan studied at McMaster University, Hamilton and Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland before joining Stelco Inc. He was a dedicated employee for 35 years before retiring in 2001. A lover of golf, his true passion was curling. Playing competitively for many years before taking on the daunting task with his colleagues to better promote the game. Stan’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the EMS paramedics and the critical care team at St. Joseph’s Hospital who worked tirelessly trying to save him. Special thanks to Julia in the ICU for her compassionate care. In keeping with Stan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the DODSWORTH & BROWN FUNERAL HOME – ANCASTER CHAPEL, 378 Wilson Street East, on Thursday June 9, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. A private family service and interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
