<div itemprop="description">HART, Robert Shaw – On Thursday, October 13, 2016 after a courageous battle with ALS, God called Robert home, setting his body free from the ravages of this horrific disease. In spite of his physical limitations, Robert always remained hopeful and positive, constantly maintaining his strong will, determination, patience and dignity. Much loved husband and soul mate of Mary. They celebrated 42 glorious years of marriage on October 11, 2016, with Robert’s choice of meal – Harvey’s cheeseburger, fries and onion rings. Survived by sister in law Rose Hart, nephews and nieces Chris, Michael (Stephanie), Paul, Rachel Hart, Lisa, Greg, and Carrie Ciancone. Also survived by his sister in law Pauline McLaughlin, her family, and other members of Mary’s family. He also leaves to mourn his Aunt Carol Ann, Uncle Paul, several cousins, and many, many dear friends. Robert is predeceased by his parents Mary and Robert Hart Sr., his siblings Lynda (Don) Ciancone, Mary Jane, David, and Margaret. Special thanks to Dr. Turnbull and the caring staff of the ALS clinic, the caring angels from CCAC, VON, and St. Elizabeth’s Home Care who always treated Robert with dignity and respect. Thank you also to our many, many good friends and neighbours for their love and support, meals, yard and pool maintenance, dog walks, etc. We couldn’t have done it without you. Robert was very active in St. Ann’s Parish and was particularly proud of his involvement with the Knights of Columbus and having served as Grand Knight. He was also active in his community volunteering with various community events. Robert’s Catholic faith was an integral part of his life and so we stand blessed in our grief, knowing we will surely be reunited with him. The family will receive friends at the DODSWORTH & BROWN Funeral Home ANCASTER CHAPEL 378 Wilson St. E., Ancaster, Ont. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. with Prayers at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to celebrate Robert’s life will be offered at ST. ANN’S PARISH 11 Wilson St. W., Ancaster, Ont. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery. In memory of Robert, donations may be made to the ALS Society, Good Shepherd Centre, SPCA or a charity of your choice.
