Margaret Keenan's long sufferings mercifully ended at Emmanuel House hospice in the early evening of Sunday, 21 September 2014. Margaret Ann Keenan (nee Morrison) age 80 years. Beloved wife of Alan Keenan for 60 years. Loving mother to four sons Tim (Rebecca), David, James (Donna), Rob (Liz). Cherished grandmother of Caitlin, Lowell, Megan, Corinne, Devin, Jackson and Jacomina. Dear sister of Donald Morrison (Ruth). Margaret was a retired school teacher with the Brant County Board of Education. Margaret and Alan sang together for many years in the Bach-Elgar Choir of Hamilton; she sang also with the John Laing Singers. Words from Alan: I first held Margaret in my arms when she was two years old and I was sixteen. When she was in her early teens and visiting my sister (her mother's closest friend) we spent many hours together listening to Gilbert and Sullivan records. Our paths crossed again when she was in her second year at McMaster University. Romance bloomed and we have been together from then until today. Now we are separated. But, before long, I will rejoin her in the afterworld. Private cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens on Saturday October 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. Reception to follow at DODSWORTH & BROWN Funeral Home, ANCASTER CHAPEL, 905-648-3852. Donations in lieu of flowers would be appreciated: Emmanuel House Hospice (or your local hospice), Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association.
