<div itemprop="description">Passed away in his 92nd year on Sunday October 23, 2016 at the Juravinski Hospital as a result of illness. Howard was the devoted husband of the late Irene (nee Boles) for 66 years and caring father of Brian (Brenda) of Harriston and David (Pat) of Toronto. He will be missed by his grandchildren Amy (Ryan) of Guelph and Clarence (Sara) of Wroxeter and great grandchildren Seth, Callie, Kaleb, Brody, Tayte, Alexis, and Alana. <br>Howard is lovingly remembered by his brother the late Bud (Brenda) his sister Ruth Mutton (and the late Russel) and his late brother Donny, also sister-in- law the late Myrtle (late Syd) Hawker, sister-in-law the late June (late Gord) Smith and Sister-in-law Audrey (Don) Allan. <br>Howard was born in Erie Pennsylvania and came to Canada at the age of 2 where he lived in west Hamilton. Howard married Irene in 1944 before leaving for the war at the age of 19. Trooper Howard Atkin served in the Tank corps and returned home after being seriously wounded when his tank exploded. Howard cared deeply for his family, his community and his country. Howard and Irene moved to Ancaster to raise their family, and became members of St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in 1960 . He was very active in most aspects of the church including 42 years on the Board of Managers, and 10 years as a Cub Scout leader. Howard was active in his community both in the St John's Ambulance, and was also a founding organizer of the Ancaster community food drive program. Howard was helpful to all and always served with love, care and pride.<br>Family and friends are welcome to attend viewing at the DODSWORTH AND BROWN FUNERAL HOME- ANCASTER CHAPEL on Wednesday, October 26 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 11 am at St .Andrews Presbyterian Church, Sulphur Springs Road Ancaster. <br>In lieu of flowers we would ask that you consider a donation to the charities that meant much to Howard. The Ancaster Food Share, the Neighbour to Neighbour Center, or St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, or to the charity of your choice.<br></div>
